President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Professor Godswill Obioma as Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the National Examinations Council, NECO.
A statement by the Head of Information, NECO, Azeez Sani, said the approval was contained in a letter dated May 15, 2020, with Reference No: FME/PS/396/C1/1/134 and signed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.
The appointment for an initial tenure of five years takes effect from May 14, 2020.
Obioma is a professor of Education Measurement and Evaluation.
Born on December 12, 1953, Obioma hails from Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
He takes over from the former Acting Registrar, Abubakar Gana, at the Council’s Headquarters in Minna.
Until his appointment as Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO, Professor Obioma was Ebonyi State Resident Electoral Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
