Watford club captain, Troy Deeney has come out to say that he will not be returning to training with the rest of his team members this week.
In a recent interview, the well-built striker insisted that the lives of the players are not safe and there is no guarantee for their safety that has been put in place by the Premier League.
Deeney went further to state that he will not go-ahead to put the lives of his family members at risk. He has a 5-month old son who already respiratory problems from birth. If the baby contracts the coronavirus, his chances of survival would be slim as the virus attacks the respiratory system as well.
Deeney is one of some Premier League stars in recent weeks who have expressed their concerns over football returning in England. The country currently has one of the worst mortality rates in Europe as well as an increase in the number of people infected with the virus.
The club legend seems to have made the right decision as three members of the Watford team tested positive to the virus. Two of the individuals were players while the other person was a staff member. Out of over 700 tests carried out this past weekend, 6 tests results returned positive.
Football fans and critics have suggested that Deeney should be sanctioned by the club or he should not receive weekly wages. However, Deeney has clearly stated that he is not bothered about financial gains at this moment. The lives of his family members are his topmost priority.
