No fewer than 51 COVID-19 patients have so far been discharged from different treatment centres by the Katsina State Government.

Commissioner for Health and member of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Committee, Yakubu Danja, stated this while giving an update on the pandemic in the state.

According to the Health Commissioner, the state as of May 21, 2020, has a total of 281 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, with 13 deaths recorded so far and expecting about 400 results from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

Danja attributed the increase in the number of cases as a result of community transmission, which he said, only the use of face masks, observing social distancing, as well as other preventive measures, can be of help.

He, therefore, advised Nigerians to always cooperate with the government especially obeying the stay at home order as well as proper use of face masks to curtail the spread of the virus.
