Major General Edet Akpan the fourth National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director-General died in Uyo the State Capital of Akwa Ibom as confirmed by the Director, Press and Public Relations of NYSC, Adenike Adeyemi.
According to Adeyemi, the late Major General Edet Akpan reformed the NYSC scheme in the line of growth. Edet Akpan’s five-year administration initiated the NYSC flag and anthem which is still in use.
Also, his administration started NYSC farms across the country and enhanced the Community Development Service (CDS) of corps members.
The spokesman in his statement stated that the late Major General lived an exemplary life and the purposeful life he lived would never be forgotten.
Edet Akpan was born on December 20, 1940, he lived for 80 years. Before his death, he was married with 6 kids. He was a known Educationist and a Community leader.
