The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Speaker, House of Representatives to appear before it within seven days over the ongoing moves by the House to summon the Opposition Coalition (CUPP), spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyere, to appear before the House ad-hoc Committee led by Henry Nwawuba.
The Committee is probing the media statements and opposition of the CUPP against Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila on Compulsory Vaccination Bill 2020 which the Speaker is claiming to be offensive.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo, while delivering a ruling in the suit brought by Ugochinyere, reminded the defendants, Femi Gbajabiamila, House of Representatives, Clerk of the National Assembly, and the Inspector General of Police of the settled position of the law that once a matter is in court, parties must stay further action pending the determination of the suit.
The matter has been adjourned to May 27, 2020.
