Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has frowned against the violation of government’s laid down precautionary measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic as the state records one new case on Tuesday.
Governor Diri stated this during the joint meeting of the state’s Task Force on COVID-19 in the Government House, Yenagoa, where he also reinforced the lockdown of inter-state borders for another two weeks as directed by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
The new case is said to have a traveling history from Warri, Delta State, where he resides with his family.
The inter-state borders lockdown and curfew from 8 pm to 6 am each day for the next two weeks as directed by the Presidential Task Force nationwide are also reinforced and asked to be strictly observed in Bayelsa State.
Due to the over-bloated corpses in the morgue, the state government also relaxed the order on burials but warned that families are to maintain the COVID-19 protocols by observing a low key ceremony.
With the new case recorded, Bayelsa State now has a total record of seven positive cases of COVID-19 with five treated and discharged.
