Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has insisted that the state is COVID-19 free.

The Governor urged people to go about their business with adherence to the laid down preventive measures to keep the state free from the virus.

Governor Bello made the comments on Monday during the second day of the stakeholders’ enlightenment seminar at the Government House, Lokoja.

Medical professionals, and other stakeholders including traditional leaders were present at the Government House to interact with university professor, Cyril Otaikhian, from Novena University, Delta State, on his findings and his recommendations on how COVID-19 should be treated in Kogi State in particular and in Nigeria in general.

The Professor argued that COVID-19 still remains a case without a confirmed root and should be treated as one of other diseases, which will gradually fade away.

Some medical experts raised the issue of using vaccines and called for proper analysis of his findings.

Governor Bello advised people to only accept vaccine with strict a prescription from medical experts.

He used the opportunity to call on community leaders to treat security of lives and property as top priority, as he condemned the recent unrest in some communities across the state.

The Governor maintained that no amount of fear of the unknown will make COVID-19 appears in the state if proper personal hygiene, physical distance, and prayers continued to be the people’s watchword.
