DG NYSC: NYSC members to produce facemasks, sanitizers and others

The National Youths Service Corps disclosed that mobilization of prospective Corp members following the outbreak of the pandemic disease in the country won’t take place now. Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Shuaibu, NYSC Director-General stated.

Mobilization will start again when the air is clear of the virus and it’s safe to gather again. Prospective Corp members in the camp were sent back to their respective homes as a result of the outbreak. Ibrahim Shuaibu stated that they would be called back to complete the remaining part of the imperative 3-weeks camp when it’s safe.

He also made known that the time when mobilization will kick start again remains unknown. According to him, NYSC training is structured like military and paramilitary training, and the Nigerian Navy also postponed its training until further notice following the outbreak.

Shuaibu stated that the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program have empowered Corp members in various states. Corp members are producing masks, sanitizers, and disinfectant tools as support to the country in the fight against the pandemic disease.

Corp Members are also sensitizing people against the virus during this critical time and sharing palliatives in some areas. He disclosed that the body looks into supporting the Federal Government’s policy on local content on agric business as they look to start their own commercial farming of rice.
