In Mgboko Mgboko Umuoria in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State on Thursday, a young man, Chinedu Omeonu killed his cousin identified as Solomon Orji with a knife after they had a disagreement over mango.
The horrific event happened in the afternoon at around 1:30 p.m. This incident put the whole community into disarray and mourning. Those who were gathered at the scene said Solomon’s son had gone to the house of his uncle Chinedu Omeonu, to collect mangoes, but was seriously battered by Mr Omeonu.
Solomon Orji, who was displeased when he saw his son went to his cousin’s house to ask why he had beaten his son to a pulp. The issue caused bitter dissension between Solomon and Omeonu. Shortly after Solomon left Omeonu’s house, the mugger equipped himself with a cutlass and immediately went after the late Mr Orji and stabbed him at the base of the neck.
Mr Orji gave up the ghost immediately. The youth of the community were angry and terrified by the unfortunate incident, they arrested Mr Omeonu and gave him over to the police. Geoffrey Ogbonna the police spokesperson in the state, affirmed the incident.
He said the suspect Mr Omeonu was in police detention and would be prosecuted after investigation.
