Josep Borrel Fontelles, the foreign policy chief for the European Union (EU) has called an independent scientific investigation into the origins of the virus and has also urged the Chinese government to contribute and fulfill its responsibilities to the world.
In a published article on Friday, Borrel called on the Chinese government to cooperate so as to prevent future pandemics from happening and he warned the Chinese government against politicization of emergency medical assistance.
Borrel noted that the relationship between the Chinese government and the European Union has been changing since the outbreak of the pandemic began.
In the article, Borrel said that the Independent investigation was necessary because the world needs to strengthen its defences against future pandemics such as this.
Yesterday Borrel published an article on his blog about how the pandemic will likely deteriorate our security environment in the coming years.
