Zamfara Govt. discharges 18 Coronavirus patients

No fewer than 18 victims of Coronavirus have been discharged at the Damba Isolation Centre in Zamfara State after testing negative twice to the pandemic by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

This was disclosed by the State Chairman of the Task Force  on COVID-19 who also doubles as the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Nasiru Mu’azu, shortly after he received the NCDC certification on the concern COVID-19 patients in the state.

Mu’azu said that with the discharged of 18 COVID-19  patients in the state, the number of active cases have greatly reduced from 73 to 50.

He noted that the state had recorded five deaths due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Task Force Chairman hinted that Zamfara State will soon have a COVID-19 testing centre to avoid the rigour of taking samples to either Sokoto or Abuja.

According to him, this will enable the state test more persons of the Coronavirus across the state.

He also revealed that the state government had increased the salaries of health workers in order to boost their morale and because they put their lives in line to fight the dreaded virus.

The Task Force Chairman enjoined the residents of the state to continue showing understanding and desist from spreading fake news to undermine government efforts at tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
