Seychelles plans to legalize Marijuana but only after these steps are taken!

Seychelles is currently taking the steps to legalize the use of medical cannabis (Marijuana) in the country. However, before the legalization of the heavily sought out weed is complete, the Seychelles government is creating new regulations for its use to avoid the misuse and abuse of the weed.

The Misuse of Drugs (Cannabidiol-based products for medical purposes) Regulations 2020. The bill was passed in February 2020 but it remains to be approved by the country’s National Assembly.

The new regulatory body is seeking to create guidelines that users must follow in order to gain access to the drug and administer for medicinal use. Until the bill is approved by the National Assembly, cannabis remains illegal in Seychelles, and the use of the drug remains a punishable offence by the law.

Although cannabis has a high potential for abuse, it has already been legalized in many countries such as; Thailand, New Zealand, Switzerland, Portugal, Peru, the Netherlands, Poland, North Macedonia, Norway, Jamaica, Israel, Luxembourg, Chile, Canada, Argentina, Cyrus, Germany, Italy, Columbia, Lithuania, Greece, Croatia, Norway, etc.

Malawi passed the bill to legalize the use and production of cannabis early this year and the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, is pushing to have the drug production legalized in Nigeria.

According to Akeredolu, cannabis is a multibillion-dollar industry that can create jobs for about 200,000 young Nigerians and reduce the inequality gap in the country (the gap between the rich and the poor).
