Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper In Niger

Men of the Niger State Police Command have arrested a suspected kidnapper in Inana village of Rijau Local Government Area.

The suspect is  a 27- year-old Basiru Musa, of Nayeya village of Rijau Local Government Area.

He was arrested while attempting to pick the sum of 50, 000 Naira at an agreed point.

The sum of five million Naira was demanded from the victim, Bako Sani who was told that if he fails to pay, he would be kidnapped.

The police in a statement by its Public Relations Officer,  Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspect, during investigation, revealed that he was an ex-convict that was arrested and prosecuted in 2016, for theft of a motorcycle.

The statement noted that the suspect would be charged to court.

The Niger State Police Command in another development nabbed a seven-man gang of armed robbers who had invaded Boyi community in Gurara Local Government Area.

They are said to have robbed the residents of their valuables and killed a 19- year-old Ayuba Ibrahim.

The statement hinted that during the operation, a patrol team arrested one of the robbery suspects, a 23- year-old Habibu Sulaiman of Dawaki Town Hall area, Suleja, headquarters of Suleja Local Government Area.

The suspect on interrogation mentioned six of his accomplices from Tafa and Kubwa of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, who are at large. 

It further said that the Commissioner of Police, Adamu Usman, appreciates efforts of the public in sharing relevant information with the police and other security agencies.

He assured the people of Niger State of his determination to curtail banditry and kidnapping across the state.
