Isabel Dos Santos, the richest woman in Africa and also daughter to José Eduardo dos Santos the former president of Angola has once more denied allegations of misappropriation of $1bn fund from the oil firm Sonangol.
In January, she was alleged to have embezzled this fund alongside her associates while she was the head of Sonangol in June 2016. She was appointed by her father, José Eduardo who was the Country’s President at the time.

In 2017, Isabel was sacked as the head of the Oil firm by João Lourenço when he succeeded José Eduardo dos Santos. Carlos Saturnino was then appointed the head of Sonangol. Investigation on Isabel’s mismanagement begun after Carlos Saturnino told the authorities about an alleged irregular heavy money transfer.

In December 2019, a court in Angola ruled that Isabel’s bank account be frozen and her stake in Angola companies should be seized. Isabel had labelled this as a ‘’politically motivated attack”.
Shortly after, over 700,000 documents that allegedly disclosed how the Billionaire and her husband bought valuable state assets through illegal deals were leaked. Isabel took to her Twitter page to dismiss the allegation. In the tweet, she stated that the allegations were a lie and the alleged 715,000 documents were too much to be read.
On Wednesday 22 January, Isabel and five other people were charged for misappropriations and embezzlement of funds by Attorney General Pitta Grós. One of the five suspects was Nuno Ribeiro da Cunha who was found dead that Wednesday in his house in Lisbon.
A police source stated the cause of his death to be ‘Suicide’.Isabel took to her Twitter page to share a picture of the fake passport used in court against her.
Isabel Dos Santos’s net worth is $2bn (£1.6bn).
