Covid-19: Niger Govt. Extends Lockdown By 14 days

As Niger State records two new cases of Coronavirus pandemic in Suleja and Chanchaga Local Government Areas, the Governor, Abubakar Bello, has further extended the lockdown by two weeks.

Governor Bello made this known in a state broadcast in Minna, the state capital.

Already, the state government had trained 457 health workers, as part of measures to combat the spread of the disease across the state.

In addition, 20 health workers have been contracted to boost the number, so that the designated health facilities would be well managed.

The state government, according to the Governor, has made enough provisions of drugs and equipment.

Governor Bello explained that 252 cases were recorded from people coming into the state from different parts of the country. One hundred and twenty five were negative. 

The state awaits the results of 67 persons.

The designated health facilities presently have 95 persons, while 156 have been discharged.

On the issue of Almajiri, the Governor said the state has so far received a total of 41. Of this, 20 have been reintegrated back to their families.
