premier league stars express concern over lockdown lift

In the last couple of days, Premier League stars have used the medium of social media to express their displeasure over talks of football resuming in England. With the increase in the death toll which is over 30,000, the players believe that football should be put on hold till their safety can be guaranteed.

In a recent Instagram post, England International, Danny Rose made it clear that football should not be spoken about till the mortality rate has increased a great deal. The Tottenham Hotspur star is currently on loan at Newcastle for the second half of the season and he further reiterated that people’s lives are at risk.

Earlier in the month, Argentine striker and Manchester City player, Sergio Aguero, stated in an interview that players are scared to get back to playing football. He went further to say that they have got children and families to worry about but most importantly to keep safe.

Aguero’s Manchester City teammate Raheem Sterling also articulated his concerns via his YouTube channel yesterday. The electric winger stated that footballers should also be concerned as humans. He also made it clear that not only footballers are at risk but the health personnel and officials also.

These players want health and safety measures in place before they can consider a return to action. However, the UK government gave the go-ahead to the Premier League to return on the 1st of June. Apart from the concerns of the players, the Premier League still has other issues to iron out before eventually deciding and announcing a return date.
