As the lockdown is being eased around the world, some countries are witnessing a spike in cases igniting fear among individuals. The World Health Organisation has already warned against lifting the lockdown measures too early because it can lead to a rise in cases as there would be more physical contact among the people.
According to experts, there is a possibility that a new wave of the COVID-19 infection could reoccur in some Asian countries that have already witnessed a decrease in the infections in the coming months.
Countries that have witnessed a new spike after a period of no confirmed cases of the COVID 19 virus include China, which reported that their new infections were a result of the “imported” cases but there have also been new reports of locally transmitted cases of the virus within the country.
Japan, the country witnessed a decrease in the confirmed cases after lockdown measures were imposed, has also witnessed a spike in the confirmed cases of the virus were discovered on the 12th of April.
South Korea has also confirmed a new spike and confirmed cases were also discovered in the first week of May. Health experts and WHO have predicted that this could be a result of nightclubs and bars gathering.
