Two Royal Dutch Shell oil workers kidnapped two weeks ago in the creek of the Egbemo-Angalabiri community, Ekeremor council Area of Bayelsa State, have been rescued.

According to the Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, Nkereuwen Akpan, a team of crack squad from the state Command after combing the creek, eventually rescued the victims without the payment of ransom.

Addressing reporters at the Command’s Headquarters in Yenagoa, the state’s capital, Akpan said the two victims were staff of the Shell Petroleum Development Corporation and were abducted while on duty at an oil field in Ekeremor by unknown gunmen.

The release of the two Shell workers came a week after the kidnap of 80-year-old Napoleon Alale, father of the Sagbama Council Chairman, Nbelakpor Alale.
