Governor Godwin Obaseki says one of the six new Federal Colleges of Education to be established by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration will be sited in Edo State.

Governor Obaseki, who made this known while inspecting facilities at the Tayo Apkata University of Education in Ekiadolor, Ovia North East Local Government Area of the State, where the new Federal College of Education will be located, noted that the institution will specialise in training of teachers for technical and vocational subjects which is the focus of his administration.

The Tayo Apkata University of Education was known as the College of Education Ekiadolor.

It was said to have been upgraded to a university by the administration of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole. The school has, however, not functioned as a university.

Obaseki noted that staff of the institution will remain employees of the State Government and will be redeployed to the State College of Education which has three campuses, once his administration is done with the bill establishing the school which is presently before the House of Assembly.
