Lagos State starts inspecting eateries for compliance to Social distancing

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture launched a monitoring exercise to keep a close watch on restaurants and eateries who are allowed to open between 9:00 am – 3:00 pm and are to do the only takeout and not eat in.

The monitoring exercise was led by commissioner Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, a pharmacist and also an official at the Ministry.

According to her, the exercise was to see how well the restaurants and eateries are complying with the physical distancing directives by the state government amidst coronavirus outbreak.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu made known during his address made crystal clear new directives as to the states gradually ease the lockdown and the economy reopens.

Akinbile-Yusuf made known that the officials conducting the monitoring exercise visited 8 eateries in Ikeja and it’s the environment. There is over 90% compliance with the directives in these eateries. The officials’ enlightened eateries are not properly complying with the directives.

Below are the places the monitoring exercise was carried out: Domino’s Pizza, Sweet Sensation, KFC Tastee Fried Chicken, and The Place. These entries are situated around Ijaiye and Ogba.

The commissioner made known that more places would be visited.
