COVID-19: Zimbabwe strategically shuts borders due to illegal importation of second-hand clothes

The Officials In Zimbabwe has decided to close its country’s border at different points, in Mt Selinda and Sango. These points as gathered caused a high rate of illegal importation of second-hand clothes into the country. This could heighten the spread of pandemic disease.

The minister for information, media broadcasting services Monica Mutsvangwa in a short meeting that was held said that second-hand clothes which are brought in from overseas, where most of the countries are greatly affected by the disease have High risk of infecting those who wear them.

“high rate in the bringing in of second-hand clothes into the country through its Border Points, Mt Selinda and Sango, these clothes have tendencies of having the disease hence the person were of contracting COVID-19 by those who wear them.

” Government Officials will now upscale the implementation of the constitution banning the bringing in of second-hand clothes from overseas into the counties,” He said.

Zimbabwe amongst some other countries is one of the destinations of second clothes from overseas which is illegally brought into the country via Mozambique.

Many the countries where these clothes come from have been reportedly overwhelmed by the novel COVID-19 where thousands of people have been infected and lots of death casualties recorded.
