Orji Uzor Kalu who was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a supposed 7.65 billion fraud charge filed by the EFCC has been exonerated as the Supreme Court earlier today nullified the previous judgement by Justice Mohamed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

Uzor Kalu alongside, Mr Udeogu reportedly appealed the previous judgement at their sentencing. The sitting judge, Ejembi Eko explained that because Justice Mohammed Idris was a Justice of the Court of Appeal, and a Justice of the Court of Appeal may not function as a Federal High Court Judge simultaneously.

The case has therefore been reassigned to trial.
