On Thursday, Thomas Thabane, the Prime Minister of Lesotho, made a public announcement that he was ready to step down from office.
He said that he planned to retire from office finally by the end of July.

Since February, Prime Minister, Thomas Thabane has been under constant pressure from the political leaders in the country and the opposing parties to step down from power after the scandal involving his current wife Maessiah Thabane and his former wife Lipolelo Thabane arose.

Maessiah Thabane has been under investigation since the beginning of this year for the murder of Lipolelo Thabane.
Thomas Thabane married Maessiah Thabane just two months after the alleged murder of Lipolelo Thabane.

Reports surfaced in early March that Thomas was also a culprit in the murder of Lipolelo in June 2017.

The political leaders of the country have voiced out concerns that the murder investigation for Lipolelo may cause politial instability, disruption and civil unrest in the country, hence, the reason they have asked Thomas Thabane to step down from office.

Thomas Thabane has repeatedly voiced out his intentions of stepping down from his position as Prime Minister since February of 2020 but he is yet to do so.
