The Cross River State Government built 7 mobile courts to try violators who flout the health guidelines of wearing face masks in public. Dr Betta Edu, the Commissioner of Health and also the Chairman of COVID-19 Task Force disclosed on Tuesday, 5 May in the state’s capital.
Coronavirus is known to be easily spread through respiratory droplets from an infected person. Which made the use of face mask imperative during this critical time. Six of the mobile courts would be erected in Calabar while the 7th would be placed in the Urban development areas of Cross Rivers state. These mobile courts would also have a monitoring team.
Nose mask violators would be tried following the stipulated and approved laws. According to him, residents have been avoiding where the task force members are. So it is imperative for the state to have a fill task force and mobile courts to try these violators. This will go into full swing today, Wednesday, 6 May.
