With the total cases of COVID-19 surpassing the 3 million mark with 229,971 deaths globally spanning across 212 countries and the lockdown measures about to be suppressed, the preliminary results from NCDC show that Millenials between the ages of 31- 40 are at the highest risk of contracting COVID-19 in Nigeria.
As of Saturday, 2nd of May, 2020, the COVID-19 situation report showed that of those infected, 69% of infected persons are male, while 31% identify as female, In addition, an estimated 1,307 which account for 55% of infected persons have no epidemiologic link i.e have no travel history or direct relations with returnees while 185 (8%) have been deemed inconclusive.
In light of these numbers and with the DG of the NCDC stating categorically that Nigeria is yet to peak with regard to the rate of infection, and the growing shortages of bed spaces, it is paramount that extreme care is observed by individuals and organizations alike to ensure that casualties are minimized.
