COVID-19: Kwara Begins Phased Reopening Of Economy, Confirms 3 New Cases

Kwara State Government has announced partial relaxation of the total lockdown in the state to align with the national policy of gradual reopening of the economy, but warned that the measures do not mean the state is out of the danger of COVID-19 yet.

Deputy Governor of the state and Chairman Technical Committee on COVID-19, Kayode Alabi, disclosed this while addressing reporters in Ilorin, the state capital.

He noted that markets and businesses would now open everyday but in 60 per cent capacity of their pre-COVID-19 operations while commercial transporters except motorcyclists would be permitted to work within the state at varied capacity.

Alabi maintained that taxis could now carry just three passengers per trip, while tricyclists can only transport two persons at a time and both passengers and drivers must wear facemask. 

He noted that local markets could also operate between 10 am and 4 pm daily.

He maintained that the state is not free from the COVID-19 pandemic yet as he confirmed additional three new cases, the state now has 14 confirmed cases, 12 are active while two have been discharged.
