In the national address on Monday, 20th April, President Muhamadu Buhari announced the ease in lockdown in Lagos, Abuja, and Ogun and a two-week total lockdown of Kano state following strange deaths in the state.
The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje yesterday, requested that the two-week total lockdown announced by the President be lifted in order to alleviate the economic hardship in the state.
The lockdown which became effective during the Ramadan period where Muslims observe their holy fast makes it more difficult for them to get food through the fast.
According to Ganduje, easing the lockdown by the Federal government will enable residents to buy groceries and stock up their homes properly for the fast. The Governor confirmed that the government is making available more facilities to house the plunge in the number of suspects.
Kano state on Thursday recorded 80 new confirmed cases of the virus, which is now with the highest number of cases across the federation.
