Yesterday 30th of April, Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour said in his May Day press release that the Nigerian Federal Government pledged that they will work hard to make sure that people do not lose their jobs as a result of the economic crisis that has stemmed from the COVID 19 virus and the crash in crude oil prices.

He said that the Federal Government is taking a closer look at the four-pillar plan policy the International Labour Organisation (ILO) laid out in response to the COVID 19 pandemic.

He said that the government is advising employers from laying off their employees without prerequisites clearance from the Nigerian ministry.

Ngige commended the health care workers who have been in the front line in battling the COVID 19 virus since it first emerged in the country.
