The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has slammed the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

This came after the NCDC Director General, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, said that it’s likely that the states who have not confirmed any cases of the Coronavirus are either negligent in their testing or they are not reporting the confirmed cases of the virus within their territories.

According to the Governor, Kogi State has a self assessment application which is reachable at kogicovid19.gov.ng that checks for suspected cases of the Coronavirus.

The application, according to Bello, has recorded almost 200, 000 cases as at last week and over 14, 000 self-assessments have been completed already.

Only 60 of the 14, 000 required for the investigations failed to meet the Coronavirus criteria.

Of the 36 states in the country, three states have not confirmed any cases of Coronavirus, Kogi state is among the states in Nigeria with no confirmed cases.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy for Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo, noted that the state expected the NCDC to commend their efforts on preventing the virus from spreading in their territories and reducing the overwhelming burden of the NCDC but instead, they are being accused of negligence.
