Ganye Local Government suffers rainstorm destroying buildings and homes

On Tuesday, 28 April, strong wind and rainstorm destroyed houses in Ganye, a town in the southern part of Anambra state. Schools, homes were affected as their roofs were detached as a result of the heavy wind. Electric poles and cables were also affected. This was disclosed by Ganye local government area information officer, Kabiru Njidda.

According to Njidda, the Local government area especially the council headquarters in the town has been left with no electricity following the unfortunate incident. The officials concerned have been reached out too and the people in the affected area have to wait till cables and electricity poles are re-erected and connected.

The rain that came pouring on Tuesday lasted for about 30 minutes and destroyed so many things during this period. Njidda stated that a man had his house and new car ruined as a result of the heavy wind and rainstorm. The wall of his house had torn down on the new car, leaving dents all over the car.
