The Nigerian minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, announced that the Nigerian government has secured accommodations in hotels for Nigerians stranded in the United Arab Emirates due to the pandemic outbreak.
The returnees would be expected to remain in these hotels for the next two weeks under quarantine to ensure they haven’t contacted the COVID 19 virus.
Last week, the minister of foreign affairs disclosed that several hotels in Lagos and Abuja refused to accommodate these returnees claiming it will cause some damage to their brands.
Over 2000 Nigerians in the United Arab Emirates are reportedly stranded and depending on the Nigerian government to return home. Geoffrey Onyema gave thanks to the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwoolu for helping persuade the hotels to allow this return is secured accommodations.
