Femi Adesina clears the air on religious gatherings post lockdown in Nigeria
Special Adviser to the President on media and Publicity

On Monday 27 April, President Muhamadu Buhari in a National broadcast addressed Nigerians on the lift in lockdown in Lagos, Federal Capital Territory, and Ogun State. He also shed light on several other new directives put in place as the country continues to fight against coronavirus.

Following the broadcast, many Nigerians requested clarity on the opening of religious centres. Femi Adesina the Senior Special Adviser to the President has disclosed that from the 4th of May, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 would give guidelines to help citizens know what can and cannot be done during this period.

He stated that Buhari made known that social and physical distancing would continue despite the ease in lockdown which translates no gathering for religious events. Social and religious gatherings remain prohibited according to the President.

In the National broadcast, selected businesses will begin to run on May 4 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun while Kano remains on total lockdown for two weeks following the strange death in the state.
