Vice president of the United States of America, Mike Pence paid a visit to the mayo clinic, an American non-profit medical centre in Rochester Minnesota without wearing a face mask.

This has led to a whole new wave of controversy as the mayo clinic has a new policy in place due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus, that every person in the clinic must wear a face mask that covers the nose and mouth and if they have no face mask available maybe a scarf as a substitute.

After the video of the vice-president not wearing a face mask in the clinic circulated the internet it caused quite a stir. Many reacted condemning the actions of the Vice President. The clinic was quick to post on their Twitter page saying, ” Mayo clinic had informed Pence of the masking policy priorities arrival today.

The people are angry at the vice president’s ‘irresponsible’ actions. Even though he feels perfectly healthy, there is a chance the vice president may have the virus without even knowing it and without his use of face mask, pass the COVID-19 virus onto others.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its policy in early April. The CDC now recommends wearing clothes face masks in public areas where social distancing measures may be difficult to maintain and keep about 6 feet away from the next person to prevent the spread of the COVID 19 virus.

The vice president has publicly defended himself saying that he knows he doesn’t have the virus because he gets tested regularly. The vice president said he wanted to be able to look people in the eye and the face mask will have prevented that.
