Hoodlums have hijacked palliative items meant for 1,000 vulnerable persons which was distributed by members of the Rotary International.

The distribution which took place opposite the Divisional Police station in Life Camp area of Abuja, the nation’s capital, left some police men and beneficiaries injured by the violent youths who hijacked the items.

The beneficiaries and journalists were seen scampering for safety following disruption of the distribution exercise by the hoodlums.

Some of the beneficiaries are unhappy with the government for failing to capture a large number of the less privileged for distribution of the COVID-19 palliatives approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Members of the Rotary International said the incident will not slow down plans to continue to reach out to the poor amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Few weeks ago, the humanitarian group had distributed hundreds of sanitisers, hand gloves, and other preventives to the poor in supporting the government’s effort in containing the spread of the global Coronavirus pandemic.
