The Kano state government launched an online registration portal for medical and health workers willing to volunteer to help assist the residents of the States to help fight the battle against the COVID 19 virus.
The portal was launched on Thursday 23rd of April, 2020. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the governor of Kano state launched the distribution of palliatives to poor and vulnerable people living in the state.
Yahuza Bello, the chairman of the fund raising committee said that the palliatives would be distributed to 50,000 vulnerable households across 44 local government areas in the state.
In March the Kano state governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje provided the residents of the state with emergency hotlines to contact if they have concerns about the virus, know someone with the virus or suspect themselves of having the virus.

Yahuza Bello, the chairman of the fund raising committee revealed that some Kano state senators contributed financially to help fight the COVID 19 virus. He also revealed that 11 members of The House of representative will contribute the sum of 1 million Naira each, while the remaining 13 will contribute 250,000 Naira each.
President Buhari approved the sum of 500 billion Naira as part of the COVID 19 virus crisis intervention fund. Zainab Ahmed, the minister of finance and budget made the announcement. The 500 billion Naira will be sourced from various account already existing special in the country’s account.
The 500 billion Naira will be used to upgrade the health care facilities around the country, it would include the financing and creation of special public works programme and it will also include funding of additional interventions that may arise.
