The health workers in Egypt have reported inadequate supply of protective equipment to help fight the COVID 19 virus that has spread widely across the world.

Although the doctors have been constantly complaining about this shortage, the government has contradicted them multiple times saying that the supply of protective equipment to help fight the COVID 19 virus are sufficient in the country.

Egypt currently has the highest number of confirmed cases of the virus in Africa and the second-highest number of deaths recorded on the continent, with about 2673 confirmed cases of the virus and 196 deaths.

According to the World Health Organisation, 13% of those confirmed cases of the COVID 19 virus in the country are the health workers.

The first case of the virus was confirmed in the country on the 15th of February 2020 and has rapidly escalated within two months to such a high number.
