Edo State Government has placed a ban on street trading as part of new measures to enforce social distancing and halt the spread of Coronavirus in the state.

The State’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, who disclosed this at a media briefing in Benin City also noted that the State Government has set up screening facilities in six primary healthcare centres and four private hospitals in the State Capital.

Edo State Government is stepping up measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the state. This is even more so now that the state has seen a steady rise in the number of confirmed cases.

Shaibu said screening centres have been set up in the state capital.

Commissioner for Health, Patrick Okundia, urged residents to walk up to the centres and get themselves screened.

This measure is geared towards preventing community spreading.

The Commissioner revealed that modalities to scale up screening services across the 18 local government areas of the state are being worked out.
