Cross River State Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, has handed over the food distribution palliative to the traditional rulers in the state for even sharing devoid of party politics, to those who need the food at this critical time.
Ayade made the government position known in Calabar, Wednesday, when he flagged off the distribution of food and non-food items to the vulnerable citizens and physically challenged persons in the state.
He said the decision to involve the traditional rulers in the distribution process was to enable it get to all the citizens that need the food without political parties, religion, or tribal considerations.
On his part, the Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council, Etiyin Etim Okon-Edet, said the three line of the traditional institutions including the clan and village heads will be involved to get the foods to the grassroots.
The Food Items distributed include bags of rice, yams, garri, groundnut oils, cartons of noddles among others as part of palliative measures to cushion the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
