Macron extends lockdown till may 13

Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, has announced that France would have to remain under lockdown for another month. The president made this announcement in a national address yesterday evening, Monday 13th of April and said it’s only if the residents of the Nation abide by this lockdown that the battle against the COVID 19 pandemic will be won.

The French government will not ease up on the measure but will continue to enforce it until the 11th of May. The president said that the country has seen success in the battle against a virus and there is hope but the battle is not yet won. In the centre of France and the far Eastern region of France, the hospitals are overwhelmed.

President Macron said in his address encouraged the people suffering from chronic diseases or other diseases to continue visiting their doctors because other than the virus other things kill. He knows that people are suffering in isolation and giving up social connections is also painful.

He made a request to the health workers to organise visits for loved ones and families so that they can say their farewells to the people deeply infected with a virus.
The government will provide partial unemployment benefits for employees and partial financial assistance for companies.
