The Edo state government has commenced the issuance of identity cards to traders in markets within the state in an effort to limit access to markets as its strategy to reduce overcrowding, enforce social distance and control the coronavirus pandemic.
The Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area Council Jenkins Osunde says the decision follows the directive of the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki which wants markets shut and traders relocated to enable the state government to fumigate public areas
Plus TV Africa witnessed a commotion as many traders expressed displeasure during the issuance of the identity cards as some of them were relocated to the Uhuoba Primary School in Benin City.
