Anambra State Government says it has quarantined 29 suspected cases of novel Coronavirus following the ongoing contact tracing on the state index case.
State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, told reporters in Awka that the 29 suspected cases were mainly those who had contacts with the state Coronavirus index case before his test result was out.
Okpala said they include; health workers who treated the index case at a private hospital, relations, and business associates.
He disclosed that it took the State COVID-19 Response team about seven hours between Friday night and early morning of last Saturday to get the index case after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control contacted the state government that Anambra state had registered a positive case of the virus.
The Anambra State Health Commissioner noted that the index case is receiving treatment at a state isolation centre while the other 29 suspected cases are being quarantined at one of its facilities.
