The Imo State Government has embarked on distribution of food items to all the 27 local government areas of the state.
The gesture is part of palliative to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown.
The state governor, Hope Uzodinma, who flagged off the distribution in Owerri, charged the local government chairmen to ensure that the items get to the appropriate persons.
The food items including bags of rice, tubers of yam, cartons of Indomie noodles, and cartons of tomato were distributed as palliative to ease the hardship faced due to the lockdown order by the government.
The Governor also announced cash donations in addition to the foodstuff.
Uzodinma commended the Federal Government, corporate bodies, and individuals who have so far donated cash and other materials towards the relief fund and called on others to assist the state government at this difficult time.
