According to researchers at the Monash University in Australia, a drug known as Ivermectin used previously to treat lice and quite available globally is able to prevent the growth of the SARS-CoV-2 virus with a single dose.
The discovery, which is yet to be tested in humans reportedly kills the COVID-19 virus within 48 hours. According to Dr Kylie Wagstaff, there are current attempts to determine the current dosage for humans and it will be quite sometime before the treatment will be made available for widespread distribution.

“We found that even a single dose could essentially remove all viral RNA (effectively removed all genetic material of the virus) by 48 hours and that even at 24 hours there was really a significant reduction in it,” Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute’s, Dr Kylie Wagstaff said.
