Sierra Leone recently confirmed the second case of the COVID 19 virus in the country. The infected patient is said to be a doctor who reportedly had no contact with the first confirmed patient.
Following this discovery, Kellie Conteh, the Defense Minister of the country and the national COVID 19 Coordinator announced a lockdown of the country which would last from Sunday, the 4th of April to Tuesday, the 6th of April.
Doctors in the country have disagreed with the decision of the government for a three-day lockdown and are arguing for a minimum of a fourteen-day lockdown. Their argument is that the incubation period for the virus is fourteen days and any case of carriers of the COVID 19 would be in isolation for that period, therefore limiting the spread of the virus within the country.
The doctors have also requested for protective gear from the government and it should be distributed to all medical facilities within the country so that they can be adequately prepared for any new confirmed case.
