Nasarawa Gov. calls for more awareness on Coronavirus

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, wants the Federal Government to extend its conditional cash support to areas not yet reached in the state so as to help more people cushion the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Governor said this when he received the National Coordinator of Conditional Cash Transfer programme of the Federal Government, Tope Sinkaye, at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital.

Governor Sule while thanking the Federal Government for selecting Nasarawa State as one of the first beneficiary of the programme, noted that six local government areas are currently benefiting.

He called on the Coordinator to consider the remaining seven local government areas in the state for the payment of the stipends.

The six areas benefiting include Lafia, Awe, Akwanga, Wamba, Kokona, and Nasarawa Local Governments.

Sinkaye said the payment is to cushion the effect of Coronavirus pandemic, adding that in two circles, the President has directed that 40, 000 Naira in total be made as payment to the beneficiaries.

She also called for sensitization of the people on ways of containing the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic through personal hygiene.
