Buhari and Osinbajo already have 50% pay cut

Femi Adesina the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity disclosed this morning that before the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, the President, Muhammad Buhari and his Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo have been receiving only half of their salaries.

This has been ongoing since they assumed office in 2015. When he was asked if the president and his vice will be donating part of their salaries like the members of the federal cabinet who donated part of their March salary, he responded that he can’t say for sure if this is going to happen.

“Right from the beginning of the administration (the first term), they had elected to earn half of the salaries they should earn. He stated. According to him, since they already get just half of their salaries paid, donating more money to fighting the pandemic disease in Nigeria will be a voluntary thing for them.

As gathered, members of the House will be giving away their two months’ salaries to support the government in fighting COVID-19 in Nigeria. This was disclosed by Femi Gbajabiamila the speaker of the House of Representatives.
