The Lagos Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi has in a recent press conference explained how the COVID-19 was being contained within the state. He expressed that there are two kinds of patients who are admitted and the necessary measures used in isolating those patients.
According to him, they receive two categories of patients, those who have recently returned and exhibit signs of the COVID-19 virus who are separately kept in isolation II where actual confirmed cases of the ailment are treated.
The second category of people are those who are not sure and those are quarantined in Isolation centre I until accurate tests and results have been confirmed. Should they not test positive to COVID-19, they are then transferred to ISolaion Centre II otherwise, they are referred to General Practitioners or returned home.
Patients who are admitted are held long enough until their antibodies kick in and overcome the virus before they are discharged, another test is carried out to see if they are negative and yet another to ensure they remain negative so they are of no threat to their families and loved ones.
He also cautioned against excessive use of hand sanitizers which are flammable due to their alcoholic content and encouraged proper washing of hands.
