A lot of clubs across Europe have been forced to suggest wage reductions to continue to run club affairs smoothly.

Also, to cater to club staff and stadium stewards, Bundesliga clubs, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with their players to forfeit parts of their wages for this purpose.

Last week, FC Sion proposed a reduction of wages to their players which some did not agree with. This later led to some of the players being sacked by the club.

Leeds United announced today that the players, coaching staff and senior management have all volunteered to take a wage deferral for the foreseeable future.

The trend of wage reduction is caused by the ongoing pandemic known as COVID-19 which is caused by the coronavirus. Europe’s leagues have been suspended till either April or further notice as there is no definite date as to when the pandemic will come to an end.
