Oyo State Governor, Makinde outlaws gathering of over 30 people

Yesterday, Monday, 23rd of March, the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has prohibited the gathering of more than 30 people in one place. This includes church gatherings, mosques gatherings, parties of every kind from burial ceremonies to weddings, birthday parties, etc.

Nightclubs in the state have been instructed to shut down temporarily till further notice. New measures to contain the Pandemic will be reviewed in two weeks.

The governor said that the adjustments were sacrifices the people had to make in order to contain the highly contagious virus and he understood how the measures are taken would affect the people socially, spiritually, and economically.

Makinde said that efforts were being made in order to manage and combat the COVID 19 Virus outbreak after the first case of the virus was confirmed in the state on Saturday, 21st of March.

The governor also said that the state was working hand in hand with the College of Medicine at University College Hospital, Ibadan to help set up diagnostic centres. The centres will begin operations by the end of this week. Additional isolation units are also being set up.
