Following the recent visit of the Chinese Ambassador Zhou Pingjian to Nigeria, the Federal Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire had cried out to the government help in battling the spread of the coronavirus.
The minister made known that the country is in need of technical support as the number of confirmed cases experience a rapid surge. Ehanire gave kudos to the Chinese government for all the measures put in place in China to fight the virus.
Currently, recorded case of the virus in Wuhan where the outbreak started are almost non-existent as business and stores are reopening. According to the minister, the same measure would be used in Nigeria to fight the spread of the coronavirus. Nigeria is in dire need of Mobility for contact tracing, ventilators, testing kits, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ehanire begged the Chinese government to come to the aid of Nigerians in these trying times. Zhou Pingjian assured that China won’t forget the sympathy and support extended to it by Nigeria at the most challenging stage of the virus for China. He stated that the Chinese government will try its best to provide support to Nigeria this period also.
The Chinese government believes in Nigeria’s determination to battle and combat the pandemic disease. He further admonished Nigerians to treat Chinese in their country as their own brothers and sisters.
According to the Chinese ambassador, what the world needs now is solidarity and cooperation to get through this. As the virus knows no borders. He donated medical supplies Gloves, N-95 mask, Surgical mask, Shoe Cover, Headcover, Digital clinical thermometer and Handheld non-contact infrared thermometer, hand-sanitizers, and many others “China will continue to share information and experience with Nigeria.’’ he stated.
